Reclining Yoga Poses

12 poses, every one explained in full

Reclining poses are done lying on the back. This is the gentlest ground in the library: Corpse, Happy Baby, the reclining bound angle and figure-four shapes, and the leg stretches done with the floor taking your weight.

Because the floor does the supporting, nothing has to be held — which is why most practices end here, and why a short practice can sensibly begin here if you are stiff, tired, or working around an injury.

What to watch for

The low back lifting away from the floor in the reclining leg stretches. Bend the bottom knee and put that foot down, and the pelvis settles again.

New to these? Start with Corpse Pose, Reclined Figure Four, then Happy Baby.
